In 1978, Robert Ashley presented a work-in-progress, titled Private Parts, that would later be developed into Perfect Lives, the work for which he is perhaps best-known. It included a number of songs written by Ashley with accompaniment by “Blue” Gene Tyranny and Peter Gordon, along with a video installation by Jill Kroesen.
